MEET THE TEAM
Matthias and Michael are successful serial-entrepreneurs on joint ventures (exited twice, e.g. to blablacar) and have more than 15 years knowledge in launching & scaling costumer focused start-ups (>7m users), leading them to int‘l success. Back in 2001, they invented the new category “ridesharing” in Europe and built and scaled the platform carpooling.com to market leadership in Europe.
Both are fully dedicated to the new market of online grocery shopping and will revolutionize the way people think about grocery shopping and replenishment.
After obtaining his PhD more than 10 years ago, Michael quit the career in science and decided to dedicate his attention to the co-founded startup carpooling.com. Gaining substantial expertise in all areas of a young and rapidly growing company, Michael has been COO and guided the journey to market leadership and a successful exit. When he isn’t firing up Munich’s startup scene, you’ll find him doing sports; he enjoys trail-running & fitness, and has a passion for traveling across South East Asia.
Working for global leaders in the automotive and Internet industry, Matthias decided to leave the lucrative corporate world and join the startup life as founder/CTO of carpooling. He combines analytical skills with operational experience and the human touch. Having experienced the ups and downs, he has a great deal of empathy and respect for the challenges faced by young companies. Matthias is a Maker by heart and dedicates his spare time to build new gadgets.
